Management of construction waste
Construction waste represents a major part of the professional waste stream. Many projects to collect and recycle construction waste are being conducted in this sector. These projects originate from different initiatives and remain uncoordinated. This lack of synergy results in inefficient sharing of knowledge and experience.
In collaboration with all the actors in the sector’s value chain, Recydata has just launched a project to develop a global approach to the management of construction and renovation waste.
Recydata launches a global project for the collection and recycling of construction waste with the support of the Walloon Region and OVAM
Numerous collection initiatives have been launched to recycle specific material streams from construction waste. Discussions with various parties in the construction sector and with regional authorities point increasingly to the need for a global approach to the management of construction waste.
Recydata will use its experience in setting up and managing extended producer responsibility systems to examine the relevance and operational feasibility of a coordinated construction waste management system in Belgium. The aim will be to describe and propose the operational arrangements and responsibilities for promoting the circularity of waste from construction and renovation projects.
Recydata will rely on existing pilot projects and studies, and will work closely with various players in the construction and renovation sector. The project will last one year, starting on 1 March 2024.
